The history of Interstate 509 Modern Country Music Band

In 2005, Western Union was re formed when Anita Ray, a solo performer in her own right, joined the band as their 'front man'. After extensive rehersing the band were ready for the road again in 2006. Shortly after the band re-formed, Bernie Fullalove retired from the band due to pressure of work, and the band were joined by Fred Bridges. Fred is known to many country music fans for his time with Nashville Nights.
With the introduction of Anita Ray to the band, the band had to change from their original format of country rock to the more popular modern country music which is more suited to Anita's voice.

In 2007, due to the difficulties of maintaining a 6 piece band, the band decided to break into two smaller bands. This decision was taken having given the matter a great deal of thought. It meant that the two smaller bands would complement each other, with Interstate 509 concentrating on more traditional country music and the other band (as yet un-named)concentrating on more up-tempo country music. This gave clubs a wider choice of entertainment as well as being more affordable for them.
Anita Ray, Ronnie Ronson and Nick Cornall make up the traditional Interstate 509 Modern Country Music band and continue where Western Union left off. They have retained most of the bookings that were in their diary and now hope to add to these bookings throughout the year.
